Initial results from the Feb. 10 special election show the Battle Ground Public Schools’ levy, Proposition 10, narrowly trailing. According to early counts, the levy drew 10,614 “yes” votes (48.47%) and 11,283 “no” votes (51.53%), a difference of 669 votes. To pass, a levy requires a simple majority—50% plus one vote—meaning it currently falls short. The Hockinson School District’s Proposition 11, by contrast, is leading with 1,907 “yes” votes (56.35%) to 1,477 “no” votes (43.65%), a 430‑vote margin in favor. The election will be certified on Feb. 20. Clark County Today
Proposition 10 would renew an Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) levy for Battle Ground School District at an estimated rate of $1.99 per $1,000 of assessed property value. If passed, collections would begin in 2027 and extend through 2030. The previous levy, which expired in December 2025, started at $1.99 in 2022 but ended at a rate of $1.68. Earlier attempts to renew a similar levy at $1.95 were rejected twice in 2025. Without levy funding, the district has already made substantial cuts—eliminating all middle school sports and coaching, school supplies for primary grades, and librarian and instructional coach positions. Approximately $20 million in new reductions loom if the current measure fails; restoration of about $6 million in services this year was possible only through one-time reserves. Clark County Today
Hockinson’s Proposition 11 seeks renewal of its expiring programs and operations levy at the same rate approved in 2022: $1.89 per $1,000 of assessed value. The renewal, combined with a refinanced bond, is expected to reduce estimated school tax costs by about $35 per month for an $800,000 home starting in 2027. The bond refinancing also brings down the bond rate from $1.39 per $1,000 in 2025 to $0.63 in 2026, saving taxpayers an estimated $1.3 million over the bond’s remaining life. Clark County Today
The Clark County Auditor’s Office reports that 29,524 ballots were cast in the participating districts, with voter turnout at approximately 34% of 86,698 registered voters. These figures reflect early counts; the official certification of results will occur on Feb. 20. Clark County Today
Why this matters
If Battle Ground’s levy fails to pass, the district faces difficult decisions that could further erode student services—particularly in areas already pared back for the current school year. Conversely, Hockinson’s potential renewal reflects a more favorable voter response, and the combined bond and levy structure may offer greater financial predictability for district operations.
