A series of commercial developments and tenant improvements in Battle Ground are set to expand the city’s dining options, including the confirmation of a long-planned national breakfast chain and ongoing construction on a major mixed-use project on West Main Street.
According to reporting by The Reflector, the most significant activity is centered at 1101 SW Scotton Way near the Walmart Supercenter. Despite local speculation regarding a "for lease" sign at the site, a representative for the property owner confirmed that IHOP remains committed to the location. The development is expected to impact local infrastructure, with project documents indicating the site will generate an estimated 832 daily vehicle trips and provide 60 parking stalls.
The retail building at the Scotton Way site includes two primary spaces:
- A 3,622-square-foot space designated for IHOP.
- A 2,616-square-foot space currently available for lease.
While IHOP is moving forward, the status of a previously proposed Super Chix restaurant for the smaller space is described by ownership as "up in the air." The available retail space is now being offered to new tenants on a first-come, first-served basis. Recent signage for IHOP has been added to the building, and The Reflector reported that job postings have appeared on Indeed for various positions at the future location.
Other restaurant activity in the city includes several new permits and signage installations. The Reflector reported the city issued commercial tenant improvement permits for Camp Donut in April, located at Unit 111 in the Battle Ground Market Center. Signage for the business was installed on July 31, though the business currently lacks a public website or social media presence.
Along Main Street, a "Coming Soon" sign is posted at 720 W. Main St., Suite 106. The Reflector reported the city issued permits in May for a remodel of the 1,391-square-foot interior for a Wingstop location. Architectural plans for the space include:
- A two-station ordering counter
- A self-serve beverage station
- Indoor seating and a single restroom
Additionally, the regional chain Muchas Gracias applied for permits on July 1 to remodel an 1,800-square-foot space at 1218 SW Scotton Way in the Millcreek Town Center. The city issued those permits on July 29 for a space that has been vacant since the 2010s. The plans include the use of an existing drive-thru and a 39-person occupancy limit.
Further west, the West Main Commons development at 1305 W. Main St. is currently under construction. The project features four retail buildings totaling approximately 28,000 square feet, connected to a 225-unit apartment community. According to NAI Elliott, signed leases for the development include Brewed Awakenings, OnPoint Credit Union, Edward Jones, Barbie Lounge, and a ramen restaurant. The first retail spaces in this development are expected to be delivered by the end of 2026.
