Clark College’s Veterans Center of Excellence in Vancouver will host a series of four free public workshops beginning February 10, focused on suicide awareness and prevention. The sessions are designed to support veterans, their families, and members of the wider community by providing tools for recognizing warning signs and connecting individuals to mental health resources.

The workshops are part of an ongoing statewide effort to reduce veteran suicide rates through expanded community education. According to the college’s announcement, each session will include educational modules on risk factors, crisis communication, and intervention strategies aimed at empowering participants to respond effectively when someone may be in danger.

Events are open to the public and will take place on Clark College’s main campus at the Veterans Center of Excellence. Pre-registration is recommended, though attendance is free. More details, including workshop times and registration links, are available from Clark College.

Although based in Vancouver, the workshops may benefit veterans in neighboring communities—including those from Cowlitz County—by offering nearby, in-person training opportunities. Clark College is located approximately 45 minutes south of Longview via I‑5, making access feasible for local participants interested in veteran peer support and mental health advocacy.
