Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred early Monday near Adna, a small community west of Chehalis. The Washington State Patrol reported that 33-year-old Cameron Dimond, of Chehalis, died at the scene following a collision on State Route 6 around 5:45 a.m.
According to investigators, Dimond was driving a Ford Transit eastbound near milepost 48 when he attempted to make a left turn without yielding. His vehicle collided head-on with a Ford F-350 towing a trailer, driven by 37-year-old Daniel Nederlander of Onalaska. Both vehicles came to rest on the highway, blocking both lanes of traffic for several hours.
Emergency responders pronounced Dimond dead at the scene. Nederlander was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with reported injuries. Both men had been wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. The State Patrol said it remains unclear whether impairment played a role in the crash.
Crews worked into the morning to clear the wreckage and reopen the roadway. State Route 6 serves as a vital rural corridor between Chehalis and coastal communities such as Pe Ell and Raymond, often used by commuters and commercial traffic alike.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no citations have yet been issued.
