The City of Longview continues to maintain a public directory of planning and feasibility documents for the redevelopment of the Cowlitz County Event Center, though official records do not indicate a current timeline or recent action on the project. According to official city records, the Longview City Council previously identified a need for the Longview Public Development Authority (PDA) to facilitate the redevelopment of property within the Event Center Master Plan area.

The project scope includes the development of a master-planned hotel and sports complex. However, the most recent solicitation for the site, a Hotel Request for Proposals (RFP) dated July 2025, carried a proposal deadline of August 13, 2025. As of August 13, 2026, the city has not published an update regarding the selection of a developer or the current status of that RFP.

The city has made the following foundational documents available for public review to establish the economic viability and scope of the proposed regional assets:

  • The full Cowlitz County Event Center Master Plan.
  • A Hotel Real Estate Flyer and associated feasibility study and addendum.
  • A Sports Complex Feasibility study.
  • An Equestrian Facilities Study Report dated September 2016.

This long-term planning effort sits alongside other regional economic initiatives. As previously reported on August 12, 2026, the Kelso-Longview Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking financial commitments from local governments for the 50th anniversary of the Mount St. Helens eruption in 2030, which the Chamber also views as a significant regional opportunity.

While the City Council has recognized the PDA’s role in assisting with the Event Center property, the city’s administrative records currently serve as a static repository for these studies rather than a report of active development. Residents can access the complete list of planning materials through the city’s website.
