Columbia Generating Station—the Northwest’s sole nuclear reactor—underwent an unplanned manual shutdown early Feb. 12 after both reactor recirculation pumps failed. Though now stable, the outage raises questions about aging infrastructure, energy reliability, and grid resilience as repairs proceed.
