The ramp connecting southbound Interstate 5 to southbound Interstate 205 at Exit 7 will close for the weekend starting Friday night. The closure is necessary for crews to complete lane striping, sign installation, and guardrail work as part of a concrete panel rehabilitation project. According to reporting by Clark County Today, this is expected to be the final full closure of the exit for this project, though Washington State Department of Transportation records indicate broader rehabilitation work will continue through late summer 2026.

The closure will begin at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 31, and is scheduled to end by 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2. During this period, all southbound lanes of I-205 will be closed between the I-5/I-205 split and Exit 36 for Northeast 134th Street. The work is being performed by Kerr Contractors Oregon, LLC, under contract with WSDOT.

Travelers in Clark County should expect delays and slower traffic through the area. The nighttime speed limit on southbound I-5 through the work zone will be reduced from 70 mph to 55 mph. To manage traffic flow and safety, crews will deploy a queue warning system to alert drivers of slowing or stopped traffic ahead of the construction site.

While the main connection at Exit 7 will be inaccessible, all lanes and ramps on southbound I-205 south of Exit 36 will remain open. This includes the on-ramp from Northeast 134th Street to southbound I-205. The project aims to improve the driving surface and safety features in the immediate vicinity of the highway split.
