The ramp connecting southbound Interstate 5 to southbound Interstate 205 at Exit 7 in Vancouver will close starting Friday night, July 31. The closure is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. and conclude by 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, according to reporting by Clark County Today.

The closure will affect Clark County commuters and regional travelers as Kerr Contractors Oregon, LLC, a contractor for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), completes lane striping on both southbound I-5 and I-205. The work also includes the installation of new signs and guardrails near the exit. WSDOT officials stated that closing this section of the highway allows crews to finish the project more quickly, reducing the long-term impact on the traveling public.

During the work period, all southbound lanes of I-205 will be closed between the I-5/I-205 split and Exit 36 for Northeast 134th Street. However, all lanes and ramps on southbound I-205 south of Exit 36 will remain open, including the on-ramp from Northeast 134th Street to southbound I-205.

For safety, the nighttime speed limit on southbound I-5 through the work zone will be reduced from 70 mph to 55 mph. WSDOT will deploy a queue warning system ahead of the construction area to alert drivers of slowing or stopped traffic, a measure intended to reduce the risk of rear-end collisions. Travelers are advised to expect delays and plan alternative routes through the area for the duration of the weekend work.
