Two people were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries on Thursday afternoon following a single-vehicle rollover collision at the Interstate 5 overpass on NE 78th Street. According to reporting by Clark County Today, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office stated that the driver and passenger were in stable condition following the crash.
At approximately 3 p.m. on July 30, an American Medical Response unit witnessed a gray 2025 Toyota RAV4 traveling southbound on the I-5 offramp toward NE 78th Street. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle failed to slow for a red light, crossed a traffic island, and struck a pedestrian signal before colliding with an overpass column. Reporting by KPTV confirmed the vehicle type and the sequence of events.
Fire personnel extricated the two occupants from the vehicle. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the collision. Traffic Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to lead the investigation, and the Washington State Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, traffic diversions remained in place for approximately five hours during the investigation and vehicle recovery. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
