A 19-year-old Camas resident drowned Friday evening at Round Lake in Lacamas Park after jumping from a rope swing, according to reporting by Clark County Today.
Camas police and fire units were dispatched to the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 7. A 9-1-1 caller reported that a male was struggling to stay afloat after jumping into the water from a rope swing near the Lacamas Creek Dam. While witnesses and good Samaritans attempted to rescue the swimmer, they were unable to bring him to shore.
