Longview Parks and Recreation is offering a 75 percent scholarship discount for youth recreation programs, before and after school care, and summer camps for the 2026-2027 season. According to official city records, the financial assistance is available to households that meet specific residency and income requirements.
The program distinguishes between service areas based on the type of activity. Before and after school programs and general recreation programs are restricted to residents living within the City of Longview limits. Summer camp scholarships are available to all Cowlitz County residents.
To qualify, total gross household income must be at or below the following thresholds for the 2026-2027 period:
- Household of 1: $29,526 annual / $2,461 monthly
- Household of 2: $40,034 annual / $3,337 monthly
- Household of 3: $50,542 annual / $4,212 monthly
- Household of 4: $61,050 annual / $5,088 monthly
- Household of 5: $71,558 annual / $5,964 monthly
- Household of 6: $82,066 annual / $6,839 monthly
- Household of 7: $92,574 annual / $7,715 monthly
- Household of 8: $103,082 annual / $8,591 monthly
For households larger than eight, the threshold increases by $10,508 annually for each additional member. According to the city, household size includes all adults and children living in the home who share income and expenses.
Applicants must provide one proof of residency and one proof of income. Accepted residency documents include utility bills from Cowlitz PUD, city water, garbage, gas, or internet issued within the last 60 days; a current lease or mortgage statement; or official correspondence from DSHS or a school district. A Washington State Driver’s License or ID is also accepted if the current address is printed on the front.
For income verification, the city notes that because Longview schools participate in the Community Eligibility Provision program and serve free meals to all students, traditional approval letters are not automatically mailed. Applicants may provide a Longview School District Nutrition Services Award Letter, their most recent Federal Tax Return Form 1040, or 30 consecutive days of their most recent gross pay stubs.
Applications can be submitted online at mylongview.com. Digital uploads must be under 5 MB per file. Those unable to apply online must visit the Longview Parks and Recreation Office in person at 2920 Douglas St, Longview, WA 98632. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The city estimates a processing time of 3 to 5 business days for application review. Once approved, discounts are automatically applied to the user’s account at checkout. A new application is required for each season or school year, and scholarships are awarded at the discretion of recreation staff.
