The City of Vancouver has opened the first grant application window for Inspire Vancouver, a new Cultural Access Program providing $3.85 million to local nonprofits and community organizations. The program, which supports arts, culture, heritage, and science, marks the first time many local organizations will have access to a dedicated municipal funding source for these sectors.

According to official city records and reporting by Clark County Today, the first funding cycle will cover an eight-month period from November 2026 through June 2027. This shortened initial cycle is due to the program launching midway through the fiscal year. While the first-year budget is approximately $3.85 million, the program is expected to have a typical annual budget of approximately $7 million in future full cycles.

Organizations must meet specific criteria to be eligible for the Innovation, Impact, or Comprehensive grant categories:

• Must be a nonprofit organization focused on arts, culture, heritage, or science.
• Must be based in Vancouver or provide at least 55 percent of programs within the city.
• Individual artists may apply if they have a qualified fiscal sponsor.
• All recipients must provide public programming that benefits Vancouver residents.

The application period is open until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10. The city plans to announce grant awards in October and distribute the funds in November. The current budget supports these three grant types as well as school grant funding and program administration. Capital grant applications are not yet available and are scheduled to open in 2027.

"Many nonprofits have never had access to a dedicated local funding source like this," Diana Betancourt, Inspire Vancouver program supervisor, said in a statement provided by the city. "We’re excited to launch these first grants and invest in organizations that strengthen our community."

This initiative follows other recent municipal funding openings. As previously reported on July 31, the city is also processing the final round of its 2026 Community and Neighborhood Grants, and is accepting applications for 2027 tourism projects funded by lodging taxes.

To assist potential applicants, Inspire Vancouver is holding grant workshops in August and city staff will provide feedback on individual proposals before the September deadline. Detailed requirements and workshop schedules are available through the program’s website at inspirevancouver.org.
